Hazrat Jibreal, the Arch Angel, is considered the most important of the angels in Islam. Hazrat Jibrael is entrusted by Allah to serve as a communication link between Allah and His Messengers.
Hazrat Jibrael brought down revelations to Prophet Muhammed (SAW) and the Prophets that came before him. Hazrat Jibrael is refered to as the Holy Spirit in the Holy Quran:
"Say: Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel -- for he brings down the revelation to your heart by Allah's will, a confirmation of what went before, and guidance and glad tidings for those who believe - whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and apostles, to Jibreel and Mikail (Michael) - oh, Allah is an enemy to those who reject Faith" (2:97-98).
"If you two turn in repentance to Him, your hearts are indeed so inclined. But if you back up each other against him, truly Allah is his Protector, and Jibreel, and every righteous one among those who believe, and furthermore, the angels will back him up" (66:4).
While the Quran predominantly highlights the role of Jibril in delivering revelations, it also acknowledges the existence and participation of other angels in the process of divine communication. For example, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:97-98), Jibril is mentioned alongside Mikail as angels who bring down revelation to the hearts of the prophets by Allah's will. This indicates that both Jibril and Mikail play crucial roles in conveying divine guidance to humanity.
Furthermore, the hadith literature provides additional insights into the involvement of other angels in supporting the prophets and facilitating divine communication. For instance, angels are said to accompany the prophets during significant events, offering protection and guidance. While Jibril holds a prominent position as the primary angel of revelation, other angels contribute to the broader framework of divine assistance and support to the prophets.
