Historical Scholarship
Few scholars in Islamic history have disputed revival of the body in the grave - this includes:
- Two individuals of the Mutazalites (Dirar Ibn Amr and Bishr al-Mirisi) but all the Mutazalites accept the concept
- Philosophers who generally paid no much attention to the grave neither with rejection nor with approval
- Few Shiite sects that believe in reincarnation

Conclusion
Sunni scholarship, as well as most Muslim sects, accepted the notion of torment and bliss in the grave, however, they differ on the nature of such concept.
