How did shaitan manage to inspire the prophet Muhammed with satanic verses?

He didn't. The so called "satanic verses" were a myth. What actually happened, by most verifiable accounts, was some local "sorcerer" was paid to put an end to Muhammed(pbuh). All his magic managed to do though, was make Muhammed(pbuh) feverish, and dream he had slept with one of his wives, when he hadn't. However, the event lead to the revelation of the most common supplication in Islam, "the four quls". Not only did it put a stop to the magic, but he also later correctly identified the sorcerer, and where he placed his cursed object - that he ordered filled in.
