Is there anything in Islam that contradicts democracy?
1 Answer
Democracy is distinguished from theocracy where the divine is marginalised - Islam does not see such marginalisation in its political system.
Likewise sovereignty is not with people to legislate right/wrong according to majoritarian principles - Qur'an/Sunnah is the source of right/wrong and ijtihad is the principle of extraction.
